Towering karst limestone formations rise hundreds of meters from the sea, creating a landscape that feels prehistoric in its grandeur. The Hong Islands — meaning "room" in Thai — are named for their enclosed lagoons hidden within the limestone walls.
Approaching by yacht, the silhouette of Krabi's coastline is unmistakable — jagged peaks draped in jungle greenery emerging from mist. The Hong Island lagoon is accessible only through a narrow channel that opens into a cathedral-like space of calm emerald water surrounded by vertical cliffs. Nearby, the four islands of Koh Poda, Koh Gai (Chicken Island), Koh Tup, and Koh Mor are connected by sandbars at low tide, creating a walkable paradise. Railay Beach, accessible only by sea, offers world-class rock climbing and some of the most photogenic sunsets in the region.
